Schedule of Classes: ALL SESSIONS
Policies & Procedures
CLASS SIZE: Classes will be kept at a 10 skater maximum per Instructor. Assistants and Junior Instructors will be used when available. Sometimes classes need to be combined due to low enrollment. If this is the case, every effort will be made to add additional assistance to these classes to ensure that all curriculum is introduced. MAKE-UP CLASSES: Make-up classes are permitted if there is another class available! There are no make-ups for Stick Handling, Dance, Basic 4-8 or Freeskate, therefore, pro-rates are available for these classes only. All other classes are not eligible for pro-rates, no exceptions! CLICK HERE FOR A MAKE-UP FORM! PRACTICE ICE: Group lessons are not held on a public skate session, therefore practice ice will be provided at the end of the rink for use during group lesson time only. Practice ice is restricted to participants only!! Please, no parents, friends or siblings will be allowed to use this unless enrolled in group lessons, no exceptions! SKATE RENTAL: Skate rental is $2 per week and is not included with the cost of the class. Skate rental must be paid for in advance along with the class registration. DRESS: Please make sure that your child is dressed warmly, with long pants, a coat and gloves. Make sure that clothing is not too restrictive that they are not able to move around with relative ease. HOCKEY/STICK HANDLING: Hockey and Stick Handling classes do not require full equipment. The 'Hockey' class will simply focus on skating skills - hockey skates are recommended but not required. The 'Stick Handling' class will offer the basics of stick handling and puck control and does require a helmet, hockey gloves and stick (chin pads are also recommended). PRIVATE LESSONS: Sometimes the need for one-on-one training is helpful to assist your skater in mastering a particularly hard skill or advance at a quicker pace. Private lessons may be conducted on group lesson practice ice for participants only and are based on Instructor availability. Private lessons will incur an additional cost made payable to the Instructor directly.
JUNIOR BLADES FREESKATE PROGRAM
"The goal of the Junior Blades program is to incorporate fun and learning as well as appreciate the sport of figure skating!" The Junior Blades program is a ‘bridge’ program designed for the recreational skater seeking a more intensive and expansive learning experience. With the growing popularity and increasing enrollment of our “learn to” skaters, the Junior Blades program is the essential link in introducing beginning skaters into the sport of figure skating and our USFSA member club here at The Forum, the Fishers Figure Skating Club. In order to ‘bridge’ the gap between our learn to skate program and figure skating, the Junior Blades program will encompass many areas of figure skating including: power, stroking, artistry, dance, moves in the field and freestyle. There will also be off-ice classes designed to introduce skaters to the basic premise of cross training. Here, the skaters will learn exercises and techniques that will strengthen their bodies and enhance their on-ice performance. Off class curriculum will include jump, conditioning, stretch and ballet. On and off-ice instruction will be included to introduce the skater to all aspects of becoming a well- rounded skater. Each Freeskate Class will focus on a different specialty, including: • Jumps • Spins • Moves in the Field • Dance • Choreography Each Off-Ice Class will focus on a different specialty, including: • Stretch • Jump Technique • Fitness • Dance/Ballet Junior Blades: Sundays 2:15 – 3:30pm Class Structure: 2:15 – 2:45pm Off-ice Instruction 2:45 – 3:00pm Warm-up/Stretch/Get Skates On 3:00 – 3:15pm Freeskate Specialty Class 3:15 – 3:30pm Private Lesson *Skaters who register for the Junior Blades program must also register for the Group Lesson program at their appropriate level!* FOR A REGISTRATION FORM, CLICK HERE!
