| JUNIOR BLADES FREESKATE PROGRAM |
| "The goal of the Junior Blades program is to incorporate fun and learning as well as appreciate the sport of figure skating!" The Junior Blades program is a ‘bridge’ program designed for the recreational skater, Basic 4 and above, seeking a more intensive and expansive learning experience. With the growing popularity and increasing enrollment of our “learn to” skaters, the Junior Blades program is the essential link in introducing beginning skaters into the sport of figure skating and our USFSA member club here at The Forum, the Fishers Figure Skating Club. In order to ‘bridge’ the gap between our learn to skate program and figure skating, the Junior Blades program will encompass many areas of figure skating including: power, stroking, artistry, dance, moves in the field and freestyle. There will also be off-ice classes designed to introduce skaters to the basic premise of cross training. Here, the skaters will learn exercises and techniques that will strengthen their bodies and enhance their on-ice performance. Off class curriculum will include jump, conditioning, stretch and ballet. On and off-ice instruction will be included to introduce the skater to all aspects of becoming a well- rounded skater. Each Freeskate Class will focus on a different specialty, including: • Jumps • Spins • Moves in the Field • Dance • Choreography Each Off-Ice Class will focus on a different specialty, including: • Stretch • Jump Technique • Fitness • Dance/Ballet 2010 - 11 Tentative SEASON DATES: FALL: 8/22, 8/29, 9/5, 9/19, 9/26, 10/10 (6 weeks) WINTER I: 10/24, 11/7, 11/14, 11/28, 12/5, 12/12 (6 weeks) WINTER II: 1/9, 1/23, 1/30, 2/6, 2/13, 2/20 (6 weeks) SPRING: 2/27, 3/13, 3/20, 3/27, 4/10, 4/17 (5 weeks) Junior Blades: Sundays 3:00 - 4:10pm Class Structure: 3:00 - 3:30pm Off-ice Instruction 3:30 - 3:40pm Warm-up/Stretch/Get Skates On 3:40 - 3:55pm Freeskate Specialty Class 3:55 - 4:10pm Semi-Private Lesson *Skaters who register for the Junior Blades program must also register for the Group Lesson program at their appropriate level!* FOR A REGISTRATION FORM, CLICK HERE! |
